I grew up in the '90s. Good and bad things can be said about that decade, but let's take a minute to focus on the good things: Boy Meets World, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Saturday Morning Cartoons, Animaniacs...I still get the Pinky and the Brain song stuck in my head all the time.
This event idea is so simple, I don't even need to include bullet points. Just relive your decade. Whether you do that with awesome TV shows, great movies, ghastly fashion, or sweet music is up to you. There are things that define every decade, and you can recreate those moments and have a ton of fun. Just be careful with the 60's.
